Repeat Prescriptions

Dear Patients,

POD has now officially closed.

If you are someone who uses the POD, there are alternative ways to order your repeat prescription, the quickest and easiest way is with the NHS App.  The NHS App is free to download, and allows you to order your repeat prescriptions any time of day or night, you can also see when your prescription has been signed by your GP, and choose or change your nominated pharmacy!

If you do not have a smartphone, but you do have access to the internet via a PC or a laptop, you can sign up for an NHS online account and order medication via this link https://www.nhsapp.service.nhs.uk/login.  Alternatively you can email you can email your request to prescriptions.ashington@nhs.net

If you do not have access to the internet, you are welcome to hand in a repeat prescription slip to the surgery, please be aware that this method is a longer process and can cause a delay to your prescription.

Further to our update, please see this helpful video on how to use the NHS App for ordering repeat prescriptions.

Online Services

Online services (Online Appointments and Repeat Prescriptions) are now available. This is done through SystmOnline. To take advantage of these services you will need to create an individual account which is generated by a unique letter supplied by the Practice’s clinical computer system. Please ask at Reception.

Many local Pharmacies now offer a “collect and deliver” service for patients who need regular medication. You can telephone and register with one of these, and all you have to do then, is let them know when you have ordered prescriptions, and they will collect these from us, dispense them, and deliver them to you. More information of Pharmacies that offer this service can be obtained from reception.

Introduced in 2006 was a Repeat Dispensing Scheme.  This allowed patients having regular medication to have their prescriptions issued  for 6 or 12 months.  This is done in conjunction with Local Pharmacists and may mean you do not have to visit the surgery everytime you need a repeat prescription.
